Environmental – A 3rd grader. His I AM 4 Kids project is to outfit his school with solar panels so it can use less energy and help save the earth from Global Warming. He loves animals and wants to make sure that they all have a place to live in the future.
Health – A 3rd grader. Her I AM 4 Kids project is to start an after school “health club” for kids to combat childhood obesity in her school. Her best friend is overweight and the other kids make fun of her. She wants to help her friend get healthier so the other kids don’t make fun of her anymore.
Education – A 4th grader. His I AM 4 Kids project is to teach kids around the country how to grow their own food regardless of where they live. He loves home grown food because it tastes better. It is also less expensive than buying things from the store so they can have more for less.
Community – A 5th grader. His I AM 4 Kids project is to build a reading center on a vacant lot in his neighborhood so that he and his friends have a safe place to go after school. Gangs are very prominent in his neighborhood, but the community has had enough.
Sports – A 4th grader. His I AM 4 Kids project is to build a multi-purpose athletic field in his neighborhood so the little league football, baseball and soccer programs have a place to practice and play. There are a number of kids in the area who are very talented, but the area has nothing for the kids. So, they find other non-constructive things to do.
Technology – A 3rd grader. Her I AM 4 Kids project is to create a website where kids can tutor each other on various school subjects. She is a straight A student. Some of the subjects come easy to her, but others were difficult. She realizes that everyone is good at something and can help others.
Media – A 3rd grader. His I AM 4 Kids is to create a bilingual news program for kids that is run by kids and explains the news as it relates to kids.
Fashion – A 5th grader. Her I AM 4 Kids project is to provide high fashion clothes to underprivileged kids. Cool clothes make her feel good and she wants all kids to have at least one outfit that does the same for them.
Business – A 5th grader. His I AM 4 Kids project is to start a business that puts him and his classmates to work doing chores (like mowing lawns, pulling weeds, painting, etc.) for the people in his neighborhood. If you want to work for Pete, you have to agree that you will do every 5th job for free for those in the neighborhood that cannot afford them or do the chores themselves.
Community – A 3rd grader. His I AM 4 Kids project is start an organization that would connect other kids who know what it feels like to have a sick parent. His mom is battling breast cancer and the family is doing the best it can under the circumstances.
Technology – A 5th grader. Her I AM 4 Kids project is to start a service that will allow people to use the internet to video chat with people serving time in prison. Her’s father is currently serving a sentence in a federal prison that is several states away from home. She loves her dad but her mom cannot afford to travel to visit him. Even the long distance calls are straining the family’s finances.
Business – A 3rd grader. Her I AM 4 Kids project is an online lemonade stand. Unlike a traditional lemonade stand, her stand sells lemonade mixes with specially designed flavor combinations that she and her friends created by experimenting with different types of drinks.
